ANZAC DAY... A salute to our heroes

ANZAC Day... the words so powerful in the Australian vocabulary, they can bring a tear to the eye, a lump to the throat and a feeling of  Australian pride. Words that bring to mind those other unique Australian words that bore their origin in the trenches of Gallipoli in 1915 - 'Cobber', 'Digger', 'Fair Dinkum', 'True Blue', 'Mate'.

As ANZAC Day approaches, we remember these courageous Aussie men and women who took part in various conflicts throughout the twentieth century, right through to the present day.

To commemorate our heroes, 4BC encourages you to share your ANZAC Day story, dedicate a message to these special Australians (both fallen and serving), post your personal memory or more... What it means to you to be a proud Australian!

Supported by VB, the Raise A Glass Appeal will aim to raise more than a million dollars to support Australian serving and ex-service men and women, and their families. The Raise A Glass Appeal begins this April, raising money and awareness for the RSL and Legacy's welfare programs.

For more information please visit www.raiseaglass.com.au

100% of the money raised will be distributed between the RSL and Legacy.VB will contribute $1 from VB cartons sold throughout April to the Raise A Glass Appeal and more than 1,500 kegs to pubs around Australia for Anzac Day celebrations, with the proceeds from the sale of these kegs also contributed.

  • Anzac day is so important to me. I march each year and wear my dads medals of which I am so proud. This year my Grandson is marching with me. I feel it is important to all the young to understand this day and to show respect for all those that fought.

  • The spirit of the ANZACS grows with each passing year. Our young are joining the throng at ceremonies around the country, in their thousands. Long may it last

  • Make sure you go out this Anzac Day in the streets around the country. Remember the heroes who are fallen and salute the ones left behind. Thank you to everyone who fought and died for my family. Thank you doesn't quite seem enough..

  • I find it so very difficult to relate to these men and women that fought in the war. Those who chose to, those who were made to. It terrifies me and I wish I could ask them if they were scared too, how they carried on in the face of that fear. Was the love of their country enough?

  • Thank-you is a word that doesn't seem to cover the depth of my gratitude to all the brave men and women who have fought for our country. Thank-you for the quality of life i enjoy, Thank-you for the freedoms i have and most of all Thank-you for loving your country enough to defend it. Both my Grandfathers fought in New Guinea in ww2 , and whilst Anzac day saddens me because it reminds me they are no longer here, it also fills me with immense pride to know they did their part. and if called upon to defend this great country i would hope i had the same courage they did. God bless them all!
