4BC Summer Weekends
August 26, 2008

Alex grew up on the banks of the mighty Clarence River in Grafton, northern NSW. The youngest of four children to Ruth and Arthur, Alex spent her formative years in the Jacaranda city playing every conceivable sport, and entering every speech & drama Eisteddfod between Tweed Heads and Port Macquarie. After a wholesome education from the Sisters of Mercy, Alex pursued her tertiary education in Newcastle, where she completed a B.A. Communications Studies and also became a huge supporter of the Knights after the then captain Paul "The Chief" Harragon carried her tray of beers at the Brewery Hotel one afternoon.

After graduating, Alex's first job was with NRTV in Coffs Harbour. Alex has worked in Brisbane media and public relations since 1995. She has worked for Channel Ten, Channel Nine and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Alex spent five years with 612 ABC where she presented the state-wide evening program. She left ABC radio in Sept 05 to take a position with the Pacific Film & Television Commission managing their media. Alex started joined 4BC in 2006 and has presented Afternoons and, currently, Summer Weekends.

Alex says: "Radio presenting is such a fantastic and sometimes surreal job because you have the opportunity to meet some really fascinating people, whether they are famous, infamous or ordinary people who have done extraordinary things."

Loves: The music of Paul Kelly, sport, good champagne, mangoes and reading

Doesn't Love: Trying to find a parking space in shopping centres (or anything that requires patience)
