Don't believe the hype, Brisbane's airport is the best

4BC Feature: For the fifth year in a row, Auckland International Airport has been judged the best airport in the Australia-Pacific region.

New Zealand's largest airport was rated ahead of Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney airports as the best in the region at the 2013 Skytrax World Airport Awards.

It was also rated second globally for the second year among airports with 10-20 million passengers a year, behind Vancouver.

"To be named for the fifth year in a row as the best airport in Australia Pacific ... is very rewarding and reflects the commitment we have to listening to, understanding and meeting our customers' needs," Auckland Airport chief executive Adrian Littlewood said.

Overall it ranked 12th, one better than last year. The awards ranked Singapore Changi Airport as the best in the world.

Amongst Airports on Australian soil, Brisbane Airport ranked the best, 21st worldwide and up from 34th last year, Melbourne Airport ranked 29th and Sydney dropped from 20th position last year to 31st.
